Charity Skydive

August 10th, 2008

On August 23rd myself and Jason will be taking part in a Charity Tandem Skydive, reaching at an altitude of 10-12000 feet I shall then fall out of the perfectly good plane with a fully trained Skydiver. All being well I shall have a Cameraman to document this sheer act of lunacy for people to point and laugh at.

I shall be raising funds for Epilepsy Action and Jason is raising for Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Is you would like to sponsor us, you can visit our Just Giving Pages. All donations are fully appreciated.

USA 2008: Buzzards Across America

August 10th, 2008

June 2008

The Buzzards with the Alvey\'s

The Buzzards with the Alvey's

Several years in the planning, the Buzzards finally pulled it off. With greatest thanks to Jason for organising it, it could not have gone any better. Some of the parks visited were:

Knoebels
Hershey Park
Cedar Point
Holiday World
Beech Bend
Dollywood
Carowinds
Busch Gardens Europe
Six Flags New England & many more!

We covered 3064 miles in 16 days, and fuel cost us £250 with a 3.3Litre v6 Minivan. You could not do that in the UK.

Some highlights were:
Knoebels Flyers
Cedar Point, TTD and Maverick.
Holiday World, The Voyage
Beech Bend, Kentucky Rumbler.
Dollywood, WOW What a park. The best park I have visited in the US
Thunderhead
El Toro
Busch Garden Europe
Superman: Ride of Steel
Meeting up with several enthusiasts, The Alveys, Derek & Nicole and Chris & Jack from the FAA.
Plus the general camaraderie of the group.

Lowlights:
Six Flags America
Six Flags America
Six Flags America
Did I say Six Flags America? I have never seen such poor operations in a park, Ride Op’s letting people taking on loose articles when there is strict rules about this. Also Ride Op’s using foul language towards guests, and the whole ambience of the place just sucked.

2008

January

An announcement was made to the night team at work that they were no longer going to keep the night shift, voluntary redundancy was an option or there was the option to take on new shift patterns. It has affected me financially, but health wise I feel a lot better.

Manchester Winter Ales Festival

The daftest cat on earth

The daftest cat on earth

A first for us, the Manchester Winder Ales Festival. There was some bloody nice beers on offer, and a great atmosphere in the halls. Well recommended.

Oakwood Beer Festival

Mike with Mr Flibble at Oakwood Beer Festival

The annual Buzzards decent to northern control, for another top weekend of company and alcohol. The beer festival is a large event covering many rooms of the Oakwood Technical College in Rotherham, lots of beer to try which many were troughed by the Saturday evening.

Tumbleweed

July 26th, 2008

Yet again I have left this alone again for sometime, The first reason was I just noticed that I have somehow managed to max out my web space. I have now decided that Coaster Odyssey is going to go for the time being as that does not get updated that often, and the personal gallery gets updated more frequently.

So what’s happened since the last time? I shall make this over several posts.

Great Weekend

June 1st, 2007

Rage Buggy's

A lot of fun was had by all, the weather was on our side most the weekend. There was a slight cock up with the timings on the activities, which no one can be blamed for. But we all managed to do something which everyone enjoyed, the Rage Buggy’s are well recommended.

Some people were slightly worse for ware on the Saturday morning (Paul included, LOL!) :)

It was great meeting up with Paul and catching up, as we have barely seen each other the last few years. I would like to thank him for inviting me, and wish him and Hayley well with their marriage.

Also was great to see Roger, Scott and Christian again. Along with all the new faces I met at the weekend, I look forward to seeing them again at the wedding.

More pictures can be found in the gallery.

Goodbye old girl…

What’s been going on, not a lot really. I’ve been to a couple of more Beer Festivals, photo’s are in the Gallery.

I’ve sold my car, it went in as part ex with my Dad’s car as he’s had a new one. It’s reduced some of my Debt, and with event’s that happened last year i’m safer without owning one. I’ll just drive my Mom’s when I have my licence back.

With Florida booked, another coaster trip has been arranged. This time to Flamingoland in North Yorkshire in July.

In a couple of weekends time i’m off to Bournemouth on a Stag weekend for an old school mate, i’m looking forward to it. Be good to see some old friends again.

On another note, i’ve added the Video intro from Camping and Coasters 2006 I created to Youtube.

Think that’s it for now.

Summer Holiday

January 30th, 2007
